E two-we barely had Neratovice to resume production of the Roadster Jaguar E-type, came as another great news. Sixty-year-old Ian Callum, the chief designer of the brand Jaguar, suddenly raised saloon Jaguar Mark 2. The car, now became a classic, was produced from 1959 to 1967 and sold around the world with a circulation 83 980 copies. In the personal collection of Callum had this, but not very happy owner for a number of reasons Mark 2 was inconvenient for daily use. And the designer has decided to remake machine. He has attracted specialists from the British company Classic Motor Cars (CMC), which has made the Brand resto-mod restoration with upgrades.

The machine was called the Mark 2 by Callum. Speaking about it, the designer admits that it is «very personal»: «I have long cherished the idea. Although Jaguar Mark 2 was always beautiful car, I wanted to make the design more simple, clear and modern.»

Immediately after the premiere of the updated car Jaguar fans from around the globe began to call in the CMC with a request to sell them the same Mark 2, as Callum. The company had no choice but happy to announce the start of production of limited series. Released and prices: 000-375 from 350 000 pounds (a 21.1-22.6 million rubles).

Callum himself has developed a detailed plan to reform and coordinated with the CMC. The project lasted a year and a half. Paying tribute to the original, exterior Brits have changed a little bit. To give the car a more sporty 30 mm reduced clearance, modified bumper, installed new 17-inch spoke wheels. In addition, the front wings kicked radiator shutters.

His first sketch of a car of this brand he drew in 1968 at the age of 14 and was sent to the then chief of the company to bill Haines, hoping to get a job. In response, the boss thanked and encouraged the boy, but the staff was not invited — they need to learn a little. Callum did, and after graduation took a job at Ford (1979-1990 years), then the company was TWR and chief designer of the Jaguar Jan was appointed in 1999) Fifteen years on the post! Over time, the British assembled a personal collection of vintage cars, one of the highlights of which has now been upgraded Jaguar Mark 2.

History (Konstantin Bolotov, Robert Heat)

It is easy to guess that the predecessor Jaguar Mark 2 was the model Jaguar Mark I (, 1955-1959). The «first» Mark was two versions, differing engine size: 2.4 (113 PS) and 3.4 (212 forces). Gearboxes served a four-step «mechanics» and tri-band «automatic» BorgWarner. The car differed front independent two-arm suspension with coil springs, while the rear beam axle with traction Panhard was resting on springs. The first two years of sedan used drum brakes, and after 1957 got a disc on all wheels. The most powerful Mark I was accelerated to 60 mph (97 km/h) for 11,2 C and reached a maximum speed of 192 km/h the Car famously became the first Jaguar with monocoque, as well as a few victories in Motorsport. Notorious sedan earned due to death in the accident, Mike hawthorn, the then world champion in Formula-1. In General, the Mark I was the public taste: in four years, was released on 19 992 sedan with the 2.4 motor and 17 405 machines with the 3.4 engine.

With the release of «second» chetyrehdverny Jaguar Mark in 1959 Roman numerals in the names of models British brand changed to Arabic. (Many people don’t know still and mistakenly write Mark II.) The newcomer was more of a restyling of the «first» Brand, rather than the new generation. Looked the car is still beyond praise, but the length and the wheelbase was reduced by 25 and 13 mm, respectively. Architecture reconfigured suspension has not changed. Curb weight base modification — 1440 kg, the Car was offered with three engines series XK: 2.5 (121 PS), 3.4 (213), 3.8 (223 power). Version with an older motor appreciated as the police, who chose her to patrol British highways and criminals. And those and those liked quintuple machine, gaining 97 km/h in 8.5 and developmental 201 km/h maximally. This reputation has led Jaguar Mark 2 at the shooting of TV series and movies. In 1967, the 3.8 engine was dismissed, and the remaining modification was renamed Jaguar Jaguar 240 and 340. But they can live for long: in the next two years, one after another drove a Jaguar XJ. All in all, from 1959 to 1969 the factory went 91 210 cars. The most popular was the most expensive modification on the sedan with the 3.8 motor had over 30 thousand orders.
