MotorWeek с теплотой вспоминает 2000 БМВ М5

I worked on a few before going to sleep and change careers. Beautiful interior details, E39 in his way was one of the best cars BMW has ever created, the wheel spin at 110 mph!. Excellent gearbox (without the last MRP option). They were mostly good. Brutish sound, but they weren’t perfect.

Too soft and quiet all around in comparison with their predecessors

— Oil in the intake!!! BMW has generally been good with PVC, but not here

— Noisy VANOS units and they liked to send the DME faults all the time

— Thermostat and water pump problems inherited from the M60/62 line

— DSK cut in the side so abundantly. 1-2 shift with too much throttle would feel like a parachute is deployed behind you to cut almost all the power.

— Oil leaks at an early S62

— changes were expensive oil with Castrol 10W-60

Good car, very refined, but like all M expensive and not as interesting as the one he replaced.
